In the beggining…”Let there be the squid”; and there was squid.
So I’ve installed ‘Squid Cache’ very beginning of my server setting. It is very handy and help you to access any web site even though you are in the office and school. Maybe not only squid but some tunnels are needed if you really use squid as a proxy server. Anyway, I’ve installed squid and set it up on my server.
These days, installing programs into you server is really easy. The most sort of UNIX has own packages to help installing programs. So I do…NOT. Why? I don’t know. I don’t know why, but I’ve got source from www.squid-cache.org and compiled by myself. If you would like to get source code for squid, you just need to type,
$wget http://www.squid-cache.org/Versions/v3/3.1/squid-3.1.16.tar.gz
This it it. Really easy. Then you’ve got a code and decode with tar. squid has ‘configre’ script, you don’t need to be afraid of compiling.
